Definitely, as a proverbial statement says anything that has a beginning must pretty sure has an end, today
the 18th of May 2024 , marked the end of 2023/2024 English League Season
While some teams without oita of doubt will bid farewell to the best league in the whole of Europe until another season if they redouble effort as did Leicester, the bond of contention is who will emerge the Kings of English Soccer for the next twelve months
Frankly speaking the tussle is between the defending Champions Manchester City otherwise called Citizens and London based Arsenal admirably called Gunners
Absolutely, as the saying goes it is not over until it is over, the two teams have an edge of winning the trophy despite the fact that the defending Champions Manchester City are as good as retaining the cup for another season going by how the event took another look just some weeks ago which favoured the Pep Guardiola side above his compatriot Mikel Arteta of Arsenal
But as soccer is not Arithmetic anything can happen at the last minute as the English Football Association had since decided to send two trophies and about eighty medals to the two stadia as nobody knows what will be the outcome of the duel until the final whistle
Although during Tuesday’s match involving Manchester City and Hotspurs in which the latter lost by two goals to nil, there was allegation from some quarters of match fixing as Spurs did not put their all in the tie in view of the existing rivalry with Arsenal but this did not hold water as there was nothing like match fixing as far as English soccer is concerned
Thus, as aforementioned the Manchester side are on the verge of becoming the first team ever in English football to lift the prestigious Barclay Premier league for the fourth time
But this will not be practical until they whip West Ham at Ettihad not minding the result between Arsenal and Everton
Thus, the fate of City lies on their hands if they remain complacent they will surely have themselves to blame as their rivals Arsenal will come all out to defeat Everton convincingly as the encounter will take place at Emirate and prayed the unexpected occurred at Ettihad
We shall wait and see over what will happen as the page of the event will be closed as early as Sunday evening
On who will be the next bride groom among the duo who coincidentally fought a bitter war last year before the defending champions lifted the cup by whiskers ,it is a million Dollar question that will be pretty hard to answer as soccer is dynamic and Man proposes God disposes
Before I put a stop, it is our hope some of the top sides that have been performing sluggishly for years will wake up from slumber through doing the needful next season so as to be among the contenders not pretenders
This without hesitation, will ensure the English League retains it name as the flagship competition in Europe as well as the world
While on the other hand, the F A need to make corrections on officiating which has been generating alot of noise going by how some match officials gave penalties at will to some teams and denied others particularly if one could consider the huge blunder being made by video Assistant Referee in some encounters a situation that compelled club proprietors to reconsider their stance on the matter hence decided to vote on whether to continue with it or discontinue
The ball is wholly and squarely in their court. So long
