The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Kano State, Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude (SAN), has charged 30 newly appointed Sharia Court judges to uphold justice with integrity and accountability, warning them against any form of compromise.
Maude gave the charge on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the judges, where he emphasised the need for unwavering commitment to fairness and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge of Kano State, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, at the Ceremonial Court of the High Court, Audu Bako Secretariat, Kano.
He described the appointments as a significant step toward strengthening the Sharia judicial system in the state, noting that the government remains committed to building a justice system that is efficient, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the people.
Addressing the judges, the attorney general stressed that their roles require absolute integrity and zero tolerance for bias or misconduct. He cautioned that any action capable of undermining public confidence in the judiciary must be avoided, adding that justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done.
Maude further urged them to uphold the highest standards of fairness and courage, stating that the strength of the judiciary lies in its independence and moral authority.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Kano State Government to supporting the judiciary to ensure timely and effective justice delivery.
The ceremony was attended by the Grand Kadi of Kano State, Tijjani Yusuf Yakasai, Kadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal, High Court judges, and other stakeholders in the justice sector.
