Kano Pillars Basketball Club have dedicated their latest victory in the ongoing Nigeria Basketball Premier League Second Phase to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The team’s Manager, Coach Sani Ahmad, made this known while speaking with journalists shortly after Kano Pillars defeated City Chiefs of Abuja to record their fourth consecutive victory in Minna, Niger State.
The competition, organised by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), is currently taking place in two centres — Minna and Enugu.
Coach Ahmad said the Kano-based side had so far recorded victories against Bauchi Nets, Gombe Bulls, Niger Potters and City Chiefs of Abuja, expressing optimism that the team would qualify for the Final Eight scheduled to hold later in the year.
He noted that despite the financial challenges facing the club, the players have remained focused and committed to representing Kano State positively and promoting the sporting achievements of the administration of Governor Yusuf.
The team manager appealed to the Kano State Government to urgently come to the aid of the club to enable it overcome its current challenges and achieve its objectives in the league.
Ahmad also commended the players for their dedication, commitment and sacrifices, urging them to maintain the momentum and remain focused on winning the championship.
Kano Pillars will face Nike University on Thursday in their fifth match of the competition.
