It is on record that way back in 1990 when the team was formed despite its underwhelming performance in the league that year, it zoom to the final of the Challenge Cup where it narrowly lost to Elkanemi warriors of Maiduguroi by three goals to two
Beside that the team on most occasions qualified for quarter final and semi final stages of the event
That was apart from lifting the trophy just some years ago which has eluded Kano for so many years
Playing against former champions Rangers of Enugu on Thursday last week in Abuja the nation”s capital, the Kano lads defeated them on penalties after finishing the ninety minutes regulation time on one all draw
Thus, with the development, the club will now meet Doma United of Gombe in the next round of the event
Co incidentally, Doma United are pillars next opponents when the top flight resumes in less than three weeks
Winners of the cup will be part of the country’s representatives in next year’s continental competition
