One hundred and thirty eighty pupils recently kidnapped in Kuriga town of Chikun Local Government Kaduna State have been released
The abductees who were said to be hale and hearty except one of them are now in Kaduna the state capital and would son be reunited with their parents
It would be recalled that the school pupils were abducted before the commencement of Ramadan Fasting by a group of bandits and headed to an adjacent forest bordering the Area with some parts of the country
There was no report of whether money has changed hands on the development according to an impeccable source or exchange of fire between security forces and the criminals
For years now kidnapped for ransome has become a daily affair in parts of the country particularly in Northwest and central despite the gallantry effort of the country’s security agents to normalise the act but the situation continue to rise by the day
Just Saturday evening when a group of faithful were breaking their fasting in Mairuwa town of Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State a group of bandits attacked them which resulted the loss of lives of two people a security agent, and abduction of others
The lamentable situation compelled some state Governments to establish special security Guards aimed at complementing the work of nation’s security forces which according to some sources is yielding fruit going by the number of notorious bandits that were killed in recent time or captured
It is our fervent hope that the act which has been causing havoc to socio economic growth of the wider generality will be a thing of the past in no distant time.
