Chairman of the State Independenct Electoral Commiission Professor Sani Lawal Malumfashi, gave the advice while presenting the Election guidelines before journalists and other stakeholders at the outfi’s hall in the state capital
As usual, he drew their attention against according mandates to drug barons, bankrupt and rascals aimed at avoiding regret but give the go ahead to those with exceptional qualities
In his word”you should abstain from giving mandate to individuals whose aim is to line their pockets and those of their children, wives and cronies but rather qualified and upright person that would enhance the well-being of the larger environment ”
He maintained that nomination forms fee for those seeking the posts of Chairman is ten million Naira and Councillorship five million naira
Professor Sani Lawal Malumfashi added that the price is not all that exorbitant as some people may think going by the inflationary trend and depreciative value of the country’s legal tender
The two time Chairman posited that only those within thirty years and above are eligible to vie for the office of Chairman and those within the age bracket of twenty five will look for the seat of Councillorship across the forty four councils in Kano
He revealed only right thinking personalities, free from conviction, citizens of the country, residents of the particular area members of a registered party have the pass mark to contest
The University Don, who reaffirmed that he is not a card carrying member of any political party vowed to ensure fairness and decency in the course of the polls enjoining the wider majority to give him all the necessary support and cooperation so as to attain set goals
The Chairman hence appealed for clean and clear electioneering campaigns as the polls is drawing nearer and enjoined the politicial actors to give emphasis on issues as is the case in developed world rather than denting the image of their perceived adversaries
