SUFAYE Investment Limited has handed over damaged and expired goods worth approximately ₦200 million to the Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC) as part of efforts to support the fight against adulterated and expired products in Kano State.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Council, the Executive Secretary of KCPC, Dr Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, described the gesture as a significant contribution to the Council’s efforts to prevent damaged and expired products from reaching consumers.
Dr Muhammad urged other companies and business owners across the state to emulate SUFAYE Investment by withdrawing adulterated, damaged and expired products from circulation rather than continuing to sell them to members of the public.
He disclosed that, in the last four months, the Council had received products worth millions of naira which are currently awaiting the approval of the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for lawful destruction through burning.
The Executive Secretary also commended the people of Kano State, as well as companies and business owners, for their cooperation and support towards the Council’s efforts to protect consumers and ensure the safety and quality of products available in the market.
Earlier, the Manager of SUFAYE Investment, Alhaji Jabir, said the initiative was part of the company’s efforts to inspect and assess its products and remove those that had expired, in compliance with regulatory requirements and sound business practices.
Alhaji Jabir commended the KCPC for its continued monitoring and supervision of products in the market, saying such efforts would contribute significantly to protecting public health.
He assured that the company would continue to produce quality products, particularly its beverages, while contributing to the economic development of Kano State.
