The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano State Chapter, has described the ongoing stadium projects in Bichi Local Government Area as a major boost to youth and sports development in Kano State.
The association made this known during an inspection visit to two major stadium projects in Bichi. The tour was led by the Chairman of SWAN Kano Chapter, Zahradeeb Sale, alongside a member of the SWAN National Executive Committee, Lurwanu Idris Malikawa Garu, and other executive members of the association.
The projects, which include a 20,000-capacity ultra-modern Bichi Stadium and the Bichi Township Stadium located at Hagagawa along the Katsina Road, are being executed by Hon. Abubakar Kabiru Abubakar Bichi, the Member representing Bichi Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
Both facilities are designed to meet modern sporting standards and are expected to significantly enhance sporting activities in the area.
Speaking during the visit, Zahradeeb Sale commended the quality of work at the project sites, describing the initiative as a strategic step toward strengthening sports development and youth engagement in Kano State.
He noted that the completion of the stadia would promote grassroots sports, foster unity, and create economic opportunities through sports across Bichi Local Government Area and beyond.
According to him, the projects will serve as a platform for engaging youths positively and developing sporting talents across the 44 local government areas of Kano State and the country at large.
Sports analysts who spoke during the visit stated that, if properly maintained, the Bichi Stadium could rank among the best in the country and potentially host CAF Champions League matches.
They further urged Kano State Senators, Members of the House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly members to emulate the initiative of Hon. Abubakar Kabiru Abubakar Bichi, describing the projects as a shining example of people-oriented representation.
