Thursday the tenth of July 2025 will remain evergreen in the hearts and minds of soccer enthusiasts in Kano as professional league side Barau secured promotion to play in upcoming top flight
The feat is something to cheer home about as it is the first time such an effort happened in the football loving city of Kano and north western part of the country as a whole
Some may argue that such occurred during Raccah and Works days but this happened when the two sides played in defunct National League Division two
Definitely, the effort is a remarkable development to the state likewise the Government as it will supplement its thrive in making youth busy hence lessen idleness across the larger society
But beside these lofty advantages, there are some unpatriotic citizens that are trying to make use of the progression to attain their selfish interest
This group of people have since started propagating rumours that with the elevation of Barau some supporters of APC may pitch tent with the newcomers while those of NNPP most likely be at pillars side
This is untrue, baseless and unfounded as there is nothing as such on the ground
To tell the fact there is nothing like politics in football as the game is straight forward and nobody no matter how place he is will bring friction or misunderstanding in football fraternity
Those trying to bring such confusion need to think twice before it is too late
What occurred during the days of Yan Falasdinu and Gwagwada as supporters of Raccah and Works were fondly called have gone for good and nothing similar will resurface again as a proverb says by gone is by gone
Thus what we would expect between Pillars and Barau is healthy and wholesome rivalry as the case is in Europe
That is to say a struggle for winning trophies and honours not that of fracas among fans of rival clubs that may lead to loss of lives and properties and to some extent lead to taking disciplinary actions by Football Governing Bodies like NFF
Rightly speaking , football is a game of upholding love, affection, friendship and understanding not animosity , rumour mongering, misunderstanding and blood bath as we are not in stone age
Thus as we congratulate Barau for the feat our call for the proprietor is to ensure the sustenance of the club this became necessary as in most instances private teams failed along the road in this country unlike in Europe that the teams were privately owned
Thus Alhaji Barau Jibrin has to wake up in that direction
In view of how clubs like Ranchers Bees, Raccah Rovers, udoji United,Gabros,,Abiola Babes among others were unable to stand on their feet when the going was tough
