Stakeholders have resolved to strengthen measures aimed at protecting lifesaving nutrition and relief materials meant for vulnerable groups in Gwarzo Local Government Area.
The resolution followed a high-level meeting involving the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organization (WHO), the National Orientation Agency (NOA), and community leaders at the Gwarzo District Head’s Palace.
The meeting was convened in response to concerns over the diversion of critical support items, including nutritional supplements and branded materials, which are intended for vulnerable women and children.
Speaking at the meeting, the Acting Director of NOA in Kano State, Alhaji Nura Liman, stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in the distribution process. He noted that any diversion of such materials undermines efforts to combat malnutrition and improve child health outcomes.
Also contributing, the Head of the Medical Department in Gwarzo, Alhaji Abdulqadir Karaye, called for improved monitoring systems and stronger coordination at the grassroots level to ensure effective service delivery.
Representing the District Head of Gwarzo and Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta of Kano, Alhaji Bello Abubakar Gwarzo, Malam Kabiru Muhammad reaffirmed the commitment of the traditional institution to intensify community sensitization and supervision to prevent further diversion.
The stakeholders unanimously agreed to enhance monitoring mechanisms, strengthen reporting systems, and deepen collaboration with development partners to ensure that all nutrition and relief materials reach their intended beneficiaries across Gwarzo LGA.
