A lecturer with the Department of Mass Communication Bayero University Kano Dr Ibrahim Surajo Adhama gave the admonition at a One Day Fora organized by International Institute of Islamic Thought Kano Office in conjunction with State Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists with the theme Ethics of Journalism Guide to Best Islamic Practices
He explained that journalists should observe their routine assignment by upholding objectivity, fairness, accuracy, truthfulness and responsibility as this

He pointed out that Journalists wherever they are should endeavour to give a account of themselves by strictly taking into cognisance ethics and morality as doing so will holy and squarely help in attaining optimum goal
Dr Ibrahim Siraj who said the proliferation of media channels in Kano is a good omen cautioned the media practitioners against unethical and immoral reporting but always be upright and objective in that respect so as to become shining examples in the midst of the society
He maintained that most condemnation meted on journalists nowadays was as a result of self centered reporting but when such act is tackled such criticism will reduce to the barest minimum
Thus, he underscored the need for the attendants to always say the truth and nothing but the truth regardless of what may be the repercussion
On his part, Dr Bala Muhammad underscored the need for the participants to guard their tongues against unguarded utterances in view of the collossal damage such habit usually cause in a giving environment
He added that the motive of the organizers was to ensure the Islamization of knowledge as the situation was before it was Christianized by imperialists
Dr Bala Muhammad posited that despite the fact journalism is an open profession if one has basic requirements but it has much implication as one must understand the laws binding it
