Vice Chancellor of Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa has underscored the need for fellow Academics to prioritize works that would uplift learning and their status
The University Don was speaking at a Book presentation titlled “Kamusun Kebabbun Kalmomin Fikihun Malikiyya”meaning Dictionary on some terms in Maliki School of Thought
Professor Mukhtar Atiku Karawa who was highly imoressed over the development, maintained that so doing will greatly help in boasting Islamic Arabic knowledge and above all students of learning faculty of rhinking
He charged the authors to remain upbeat in writing additional texts that will impact positively on the lives and cultures of the wider community
The Vice Chancellor maintained that the Institution will not rest in it oars in working with dedicated scholars aimed at ensuring the ends justify the means
He further posited that machinery has been put in motion in improving ethical attributes and wiping unethical ones across its environment
The Don purchased some copies of the Books at the rate of one hundred thousand Naira
On his part Chairman of the occasion, Professor Mukhtar Abdulkadir Yusuf hailed the authors for their effort as it came when researchers and students are dearly yearning for such item with a view to developing their learning and language skills
The University Don explained that the publication will no doubt erase intricacies with regard to understanding the standardized meaning of some terms in Maliki School of thought
Professor Mukhtar Abdulkadir Yusuf who said Books were not written by authors for material gain but rather to assist in boosting learning recommended the item for Qadis likewise Imams in view of what it entails
Earlier, the Book reviewer Professor Tijjani Muhammad Naniya, explained that the Dictionary contains one hundred and ninety eight pages comprising one hundred and ten that defines words from Arabic to Hausa and eighty pages from Hausa to Arabic
The onetime Commissioner of Education in the state added that the Dictionary also discusses thoroughly on other items like Hajj as well as the works of the founder of Malik School of Thought Imam Anas Bn Malik and some of his disciples like Abdulrahaman Bn Kassm and Muhammad Bn Abdulwahab and their strive in propagating Islamic knowledge specifically based on Malik School Thought
